A Little About Myself

For this week, I thought I'd talk a little about me. Not the most interesting subject, I know, but it's a good place to start. I am Christian Baltazar and I am a Junior Transfer Student to Sac State. History and Art History have always been my loves. I don't know why, but they just really clicked with me. Since I'm a little out of the loop when it comes to Contemporary Art due to my concentration being Western European Art, I thought this class would be a great second stepping stone after Art 1C.

I hope to learn more about this style of Art since I've never really clicked with it. Being the positive person that I am, I assume that's just because of the fact that I haven't had someone truly show me how to appreciate it. By the end of this class, I hope to see Contemporary Art in the same light as many artists. If not, I hope to at least understand why artists view it the way they do.

With all that out of the way, what better way is there to start off my experience than with a trip to a local gallery? By next week, I'll have visited such a place and I'll be posting again to see what it is I learned.

  1. Okay! I know you will find contemporary art you can really relate to. What era of Western European is what you like? Do you like representational paintings best?

  2. That's a tough call. I'm a little bit predictable and find Greco-Roman and Baroque to be the most interesting. Flemish Art with all of its hidden symbolism and allusions is also quite interesting.

  3. I liked that you gave us a little history about yourself. I too hope to have a better understanding of Contemporary Art by the time this semester is over. My concentration appears to be the same as yours for the same reasons. Lastly, I like your web site design.
